A Sweet Celebration: Our Smusht Ice Cream Event

This was truly one of the most fun and memorable events My Two Homes has ever had. How lucky are we to have had the opportunity to create an ice cream flavor just for us? It felt like a dream come true. After all, who doesn’t love ice cream? It’s sweet, it’s delicious, and it has the magical ability to make almost anyone smile.

We partnered with Smusht, right here in our beautiful town of Port Washington, and the collaboration could not have been more special. Smusht has its own incredible story. What started during COVID as a small, home-based business has grown into a beautiful storefront on Lower Main Street. It’s the kind of story that reminds you what passion, resilience, and community support can build. The owner is truly an incredible person, always willing to support others in town and collaborate with local businesses and organizations. When we shared our idea, the enthusiasm and generosity were immediate.

The idea behind the event began with a simple goal: we wanted to give back to our families while also spreading awareness about My Two Homes so more families navigating divorce and separation could find support and know they are not alone. We thought, what better way to bring people together than over ice cream?

The kids were given the exciting responsibility of creating our very own flavor. They chose vanilla ice cream, colored bright orange, mixed with spooky Kit Kats and marshmallows in honor of Halloween. We weren’t quite sure what to expect when we first heard the combination, but once we tasted it, we were pleasantly surprised — it was absolutely delicious. The flavor was perfectly festive and full of personality, just like our group.

Every customer who walked through the door received a scoop of our custom “MTH Spooky Surprise” to try, and while they enjoyed it, they also got to learn a little about who we are and what My Two Homes stands for. It was such a meaningful way to connect with the community in a warm and welcoming environment.

A special part of the evening was that the founders of My Two Homes got to step behind the counter and scoop the ice cream ourselves. It gave us a whole new appreciation for the work that goes into every cone and cup served. There was something incredibly powerful about serving our community in such a hands-on way, sharing smiles and conversations scoop by scoop.

The kids were beyond excited to see their flavor up on the board for everyone to order. Watching people choose it, taste it, and genuinely love it filled them with pride. It meant so much for them to be involved in such a visible and creative way. They were proud, they were happy, and by the end of the night, they had tummies full of delicious ice cream and hearts full of joy.

Because the event took place right before Halloween, the name and bright orange color made it even more festive and fun. It felt like the perfect way to celebrate the season while strengthening our mission and community at the same time.

This event was about so much more than ice cream. It was about connection, collaboration, and showing our children that even through life changes, there can be moments of sweetness, pride, and belonging. And this one was definitely extra sweet.
